Summary
The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Division of Community Access, Bureau of Child Support Services seeks an Administrative Assistant 1 (AA1) to join our dynamic team in Waterloo, Iowa. This role supports families of Iowa in navigating child support and provides essential administrative support to ensure statewide success.
ResponsibilitiesProvide specialized technical and administrative support to local program objectives. Handle confidential information in accordance with the Code of Iowa. Produce work with extreme accuracy, prioritize complex tasks, manage time to meet performance goals and critical deadlines, and provide comprehensive program information to internal and external customers.
Requirements- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and willingness to learn new software.
- Familiarity with relevant laws, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Occasional travel required.
Full‑time, Monday—Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
After successful training and managerial approval, a hybrid work opportunity will be available, alternating office and home work.

Minimum Qualification Requirements- Graduation from an accredited four‑year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Four years of education plus full‑time experience in accounting, secretarial, or office support work (including coding and qualifying people for benefits, licenses, or other transactions) with at least one year of full‑time experience equal to 30 semester hours of education.
- Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch, equal to 12 months full‑time work as a Secretary 2, Clerk Specialist, Public Service Supervisor, Accounting Technician (any level), Purchasing Assistant, or Human Resources Technical Assistant.
