Flying Fish Partners invests in the transformative power of artificial intelligence. Based in Seattle, we are an early‑stage venture firm focused on finding the best high‑potential AI and ML technology companies to back.

This is a full-time, hybrid role located in beautiful Seattle, Washington. You will work alongside our team in our office in the world‑famous Pike Place Market three days a week and from your home office a couple of days a week. You are also welcome to work from our offices full time if that suits you better. We wouldn’t blame you—we have a deck and a view of the ferries, and all that the Market offers steps from our door.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll be primarily focused on making our managing partners as productive and focused as possible. You’ll also be the lead on running the operations of our physical office, and you’ll be an integral part of our entire team. Our team is non‑hierarchical and flexible, and you’ll have the opportunity to take the lead on events, on social media, on research, and on other special projects, as your time permits.

Your superpower is the ability to make order out of chaos while being flexible enough to pivot on a dime when there’s a need for change at the eleventh hour. You’ll enjoy doing organizational work, but also thinking deeply about cool opportunities for the firm and executing on big and small plans.

Reporting to Heather, you’ll interact with our entire team and with the many varied people that make Flying Fish Partners a fascinating place to work.

Who You Are
  • You use your proficient communication skills in emails, scheduling meetings, messaging, and informal chats with visitors and the larger start‑up community.
  • You take pride in your “attention to detail” administrative work with heavy scheduling, expense reports, ordering, travel booking, events, and more.
  • You are very well‑organized and efficient in your work and follow through even when others don’t.
  • You are comfortable working independently and remotely – and have experience delivering quality work with little guidance, and aren’t reluctant to ask questions.
  • You take the initiative and go the “extra mile” on projects.
  • You are quick to respond and are communicative if you cannot be for some reason.
  • You are able to adapt on the fly and handle unforeseen developments with ease.
  • You know when to call in reinforcements when the usual hectic flow of work turns torrential.
Required Qualifications
  • Excellent office computer skills (we use MS Office, but experience with any office software will do), and proficiency with AI products and a desire to stay on the cutting edge as they improve.
  • An attitude of voracious problem solving, creativity and curiosity.
  • Experience working where discretion and confidentiality are required.
  • Charisma and an intuitive ability to connect with people – you can easily jump into a conversation with almost anyone.
  • The kindness and strength to make people feel better when you communicate bad news.
  • The ability to provide occasional on‑call evening and weekend support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • You have ambitions to build your career in and around the VC/startup world over time.
  • You thrive in an entrepreneurial culture.
  • Experience working in start‑ups, investment banking, or tech firms.
  • An ability to laugh at yourself and us :)
  • You have an entrepreneurial mentality and aren’t afraid to challenge varying ideas and opinions with your own.
