Special Information- This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.
- Driving a vehicle on behalf of the university is anticipated to be a regular part of this position. Arizona Administrative Code Fleet Safety Policy requires all employees who drive on university business become authorized by submitting Driver’s license information for driving record monitoring, and completion of training appropriate to the level of driving performed. The law applies to all faculty, staff, and students who drive personal or university-owned motorized vehicles for any business purpose.

Unions and Activities, reporting under Campus Services and Activities, strives to offer the finest services and amenities for the students and visitors of Northern Arizona University through providing access to a variety of student services, being a hub for student support departments. Unions and Activities serves as the central hub for campus engagement, overseeing and supporting a wide range of events and programs that enrich student life.
The department manages operations for key campus venues, including the University Union, University Union Field House, duBois South Union, Prochnow Auditorium, and other event spaces across campus. Unions and Activities is also home to SUN Entertainment and Yellow Bike.
This position coordinates technical support and staffing for special events, meetings, and academic functions across campus facilities, including Prochnow Auditorium, Gammage event space, duBois Ballroom, University Union Field House, and other multipurpose areas. Responsibilities include managing event logistics, collaborating with campus partners and outside vendors, and ensuring successful execution of events. The role also oversees inspections and preventative maintenance for lighting, sound, and AV systems, working with NAU Facility Services, ITS, and contractors to schedule repairs and maintain functionality.
In addition, this position manages facility operations for key event spaces, ensuring compliance with safety and accessibility standards, overseeing inventory and procurement, and aligning operations with institutional goals. The role supervises and schedules student technical staff, supports evening and weekend events, and serves as a liaison for campus-wide programs such as Welcome Week and Homecoming. By providing reliable technical coordination and fostering strong campus partnerships, this position ensures high‑quality event experiences and supports the mission of Unions and Student Activities.
ResponsibilitiesInclude
50% - Technical Support and Coordination
- Coordinate staffing and technical requirements for special events, meetings, and academic functions in facilities located across campus including Prochnow Auditorium, Gammage event space, duBois Ballroom, University Union Field House, and a variety of multi‑purpose areas and shared use spaces.
- Support events managed by Unions and Student Activities, including coordinating with NAU Facility Services, campus partners, and outside vendors to ensure successful events.
- Coordinate, supervise, and execute inspections and preventative maintenance on lighting equipment, sound systems, and AV devices on a regular basis.
- Works with NAU Facility Services, NAU ITS, and outside contractors to schedule and perform necessary maintenance or repairs.
- Serve as a primary scheduling and event contact for facilities managed by Unions and Student and Activities as needed.
25% - Facility Operations & Management
- Oversight of operations and management for Prochnow Auditorium, Gammage event space, and meetings rooms in the HLC, including day‑to‑day staffing, interfacing with the centralized event management system, and ensuring alignment with institutional goals and student/client needs.
