Dorset is a beautiful and iconic area, with historic market towns and miles of stunning coast. It is a place of growth and innovation. Our Infrastructure & Delivery Planning team works to ensure that funding is provided by developers to contribute to the costs of vital infrastructure. We are looking for a Planning Assistant to work in our specialist customer hub as a dedicated support officer for this team.

Responsibilities
  • Respond to customer queries regarding Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) payments.
  • Source legal agreements for property transactions.
  • Handle requests for financial compliance and receive payments to recover costs.
  • Measure floor areas on plans to calculate CIL liability.
  • Check planning application data to ensure that the right developments are recorded as CIL‑liable.
  • Check building control information to ensure that payment milestones are met.
  • Monitor parish CIL information.
Qualifications
  • Confident with IT, spreadsheets and data; strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Some knowledge or understanding of the planning process (on‑the‑job training will be provided).
  • Education to at least GCSE standard; preferably BTEC HNC qualification or equivalent.
  • Ideally have work experience in a related field such as planning, administration or accountancy.

Location & Working Conditions

The office base is in Dorchester but remote working is supported. Travel between council offices may be required for meetings and training. A driving licence is essential and access to a car would be preferable.
