Part Time Ward Administrator x 2 – Colchester

Band 3 – £24,937 – £26,598 per annum pro rata
Work hours
:
- 15 hours per week (Monday & Friday, 09:00–17:00) – 439 Ipswich Road, Colchester
- 22.5 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday, 09:00–17:00) – The Lakes, Colchester
Key responsibilities
:
- Provide clerical, administrative and IT support to nursing and other staff for patient care within the unit.
- Manage all incoming and outgoing telephone calls to the clinical team in a polite and efficient manner, including handling high‑risk, abusive, threatening, depressed, suicidal or vulnerable callers.
- Record accurate messages and follow up per department guidelines.
- Deal face‑to‑face with patients and families/carers seeking information or help, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
- Ensure correspondence is accurately presented using Trust standard templates and policies.
- Operate Trust telephony systems and support users of electronic patient record systems (e.g., System One, EMIS, Paris, Mobius).
- Support the smooth running of the service under the direction of the Admin Area Lead and cover short‑term absences across the Trust as required.
Qualifications and experience
:
- Excellent written and spoken English, with good spelling and grammar.
- A Level education or equivalent.
- IT skills equivalent to RSA3, NVQ3 or relevant experience of Microsoft Word packages.
- Experience with System One, EMIS, Paris or Mobius.
- Recent administration experience within a healthcare setting.
- Current or previous NHS administration experience.
