Records Assistant – Relief Team (Zero‑hours contract)
Hourly rate: £12.73 per hour plus holiday pay
Location: Peterborough
Contract: Zero‑hours project work
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9:00am to 5:30pm with 1 hour unpaid lunch break
Week 1 – on‑site Mon/Wed/Fri. Remote/work from home Tue/Thu
Week 2 – on‑site Tue/Thu. Remote/work from home Mon/Wed/Fri
October onwards – onsite only Mon‑Fri, 7.5 hours per day between 08:00 and 17:30, with 1 hour unpaid lunch. Training may be required in London, with full travel reimbursement.
To support an ongoing file destruction project, working both at the supplier's premises and remotely from home. Responsibilities include processing files for destruction, managing data entry tasks, and ensuring compliance with internal records procedures.
Key responsibilities- Participate in the Records File Destruction Project with the project team to manage the destruction of files within established timelines.
- Process files for destruction by ensuring they meet criteria specified in the project scope, including creating new files and revising existing ones as needed.
- Adapt to new technologies, software, and systems to enhance productivity in a remote work environment.
- Follow internal records procedures and company policies for file destruction and legal requirements for document retention.
- Accurately input relevant data into the records management database, maintaining data integrity and consistent record‑keeping.
- Adhere to document retention policies, ensuring only appropriate files are destroyed and data is stored correctly for required time frames.
- Experience in records management, office administration, or a related field (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling documents and data.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and collaborate across departments.
- Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to virtual tools.
- Knowledge of document retention policies and record‑keeping procedures (preferred).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The work environment on site is a warehouse setting. Responsibilities include lifting up to 50lbs, pushing carts full of files, climbing short ladders or step stools, and loading, pushing, and unloading carts of boxes or files as needed. Personal protective equipment such as high‑visibility vests, gloves, masks and steel‑toed boots will be provided.
