About

The Role

As Leadership and Member Executive Officer, you will provide comprehensive, confidential and efficient support to senior leaders, helping to manage competing priorities, complex diaries, meetings, correspondence and key administrative systems.

You will act as a trusted point of contact, supporting the day-to-day coordination of senior leadership activity and helping to ensure that actions, decisions and governance processes are well managed and followed through.

  • Provide high-quality executive and administrative support, including diary management, inbox support, meeting coordination and correspondence.
  • Support effective governance arrangements, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, taking minutes and following up actions.
  • Manage and prioritise competing demands in a calm, professional and efficient way.
  • Build positive working relationships with senior leaders, elected members, officers and wider stakeholders.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with professionalism, discretion and political awareness.
  • Produce clear written materials, including briefings, reports, presentations and meeting notes.
  • Support project-related activity and contribute to service improvement, systems development and effective communication across the directorate.
  • Help ensure senior leaders are well supported to make timely decisions and respond effectively to emerging priorities.

This is a varied and rewarding role where no two days are the same. You will be working at the heart of a busy leadership environment, supporting effective decision making and helping Children’s Services to deliver its priorities for children, young people and families.

About You

We are looking for someone who is calm under pressure, highly organised and confident working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly.

  • Experience of providing senior level executive, governance or administrative support.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and accurate documentation.
  • Experience of coordinating meetings, preparing agendas, taking minutes and following up actions.
  • Confidence working with senior managers, directors, elected members and a wide range of stakeholders.
  • A high level of professionalism, discretion, confidentiality and political sensitivity.
  • Strong IT skills, including confident use of Microsoft Office, Teams and SharePoint.
  • A solution-focused and proactive approach, with the ability to use your initiative and identify improvements.
  • A flexible and positive attitude, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.
  • Most importantly, you will be committed to providing high quality support that enables senior leaders to work effectively and helps services deliver the best possible outcomes for children, young people and families.

This is a hybrid role, with a mix of office-based and remote working.
