Admissions Administrator
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne
Rate: £15.33 per hour
Contract: Fixed-term until February 2027
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm

The Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Admissions Administrator to join a busy team in Newcastle. This role will involve providing comprehensive administrative support within a complex organisation, ensuring applications, data and enquiries are managed efficiently and accurately. The successful candidate will be a strong communicator with excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality administrative support within the admissions function.
  • Process applications and maintain accurate records in line with organisational procedures.
  • Respond to telephone and email enquiries in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and data protection requirements.
  • Prioritise workload effectively to meet deadlines and service standards.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to support admissions processes.
  • Handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Essential Criteria

Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Experience working in an administrative role within a complex organisation.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Understanding of GDPR and the Data Protection Act.
  • A confident and professional telephone manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A positive, proactive attitude and ability to use initiative.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
  • Ability to motivate and support others within a remote working environment.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle difficult situations sensitively and professionally.
  • High personal standards of achievement.
  • Honest, reliable and conscientious approach to work.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience and knowledge of UK Higher Education admissions, including Undergraduate and/or Postgraduate admissions.
  • Knowledge of the UCAS process, including business rules, routes and deadlines, Confirmation and Clearing.
  • Understanding of UK and/or international qualifications and equivalencies.
  • Knowledge of fee assessment processes within UK Higher Education.
  • Understanding of UKVI Student Route compliance requirements.
