Salary: £33,284 - £35,322 (depending on experience)
Contract: Fixed Term (8 months, September 2026 to April 2027)
Hours: Full-time
Working Pattern: Hybrid (50% office / 50% home working) with flexi-time available
Location: Edinburgh, Midlothian
We are seeking an organised and proactive Accounts Administrator to join a friendly and collaborative finance team on an 8-month fixed-term basis to provide maternity cover.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong numeracy, administration and communication skills to support the financial management of a diverse portfolio of projects. Project values range from small-scale initiatives through to multi-million-pound programmes, offering a varied and interesting workload.
Working within a supportive team environment, you will collaborate with project managers, finance colleagues and a range of stakeholders, helping ensure projects are set up, monitored and reported on accurately and efficiently.
Full training will be provided on systems and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Support project managers with the setup, review, reporting and closure of projects within the finance system.
- Assist finance colleagues with workflow approvals and budget monitoring activities.
- Update and revise live project records as requirements change.
- Generate invoicing schedules and support customer billing processes.
- Produce expenditure reports and financial statements to support invoicing.
- Provide guidance to project managers on systems, reports and budgeting tools.
- Resolve day-to-day financial administration and reporting queries.
- Maintain accurate financial records and ensure compliance with organisational procedures.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications and intermediate to advanced Excel.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial colleagues.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Good attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial data.
- Strong numeracy skills and an understanding of budget monitoring principles.
- A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem solving.
- A positive, approachable attitude and confidence to ask questions when needed.
- Experience using finance management systems.
- Experience maintaining and updating SharePoint content.
- Previous experience working within a research, scientific, academic, charity or project-based environment.
