Do you have strong organisational, communication and IT skills, together with a passion for supporting education?

Warwickshire Governor Services is expanding its clerking service and is looking for professional, reliable and motivated Governance Professionals to join our experienced and supportive team.

About Warwickshire Governor Services

Effective governance plays a vital role in the success of schools. Warwickshire Governor Services provides high-quality professional support to governing boards, helping them operate effectively, strategically and in line with their statutory responsibilities.

As demand for our service continues to grow, this is an exciting opportunity to join a respected team and make a meaningful contribution to education across Warwickshire and neighbouring counties.

About the Role
  • As a Governance Professional, you will provide an efficient, impartial and professional service to school governing boards.
  • Key responsibilities include organising and attending meetings, preparing agendas and papers, producing accurate minutes, maintaining governance records and supporting governors with procedural advice and guidance.
  • One of the key benefits of this role is its flexibility. Aside from attending governing board meetings, much of the work can be completed around existing work, family or other commitments.
  • Around 10 hours are allocated per governing board meeting, covering preparation, liaison with schools and Chairs, agenda management, minute taking and follow‑up actions.
  • Governing boards meet at least three times each academic year, typically once per term, although some schools hold additional meetings.
  • Meetings take place during the school day or, more commonly, in the early evening, requiring some flexibility.
  • Initially you will support one or two schools, with opportunities to take on more as you gain experience. Wherever possible, schools are allocated close to home, subject to availability.
  • The role is predominantly home-based, with some travel to schools required. Mileage expenses can be claimed in line with Warwickshire County Council policy.
  • Governance Professionals are employed on an annualised‑hours contract, with flexibility to work hours across the academic year. Contracts start at 120 hours per academic year, with opportunities for additional work during the school year.

Pay: £17.18 per hour, inclusive of a 14% holiday enhancement.

Key Requirements

We are looking for individuals who have:

  • Confidence using digital systems and Microsoft 365, with access to a Windows-based computer or laptop, camera and reliable internet connection
  • Excellent organisational, administrative and time‑management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build positive professional relationships and provide impartial advice
  • A proactive, detail‑focused approach and a commitment to continuous learning
  • The ability to work independently, flexibly and with professionalism and integrity
  • A willingness and ability to travel to schools for in‑person meetings

You will be expected to uphold the Seven Principles of Public Life (Nolan Principles) and provide effective support and challenge within your governance role.

If you're looking for a rewarding, flexible role where your skills can help make a real difference to children and young people, we'd love to hear from you. Working for Warwickshire – This is the difference you make
