Position: Product Manager, Outdoor Category
FSLA Status: Full-time/Exempt
Location: Newport Beach, CA
Travel: Up to 10% of domestic & international travel
Salary Range: $80,000 - $115,000 USD annually
This role is an essential part of our Outdoor team, responsible for guiding the strategy and lifecycle of products across Gardening, Decor, and Lawn Tools & Accessories. We're looking for someone with experience in the outdoor living or home improvement space who brings a strong design sensibility, a keen understanding of market trends, and a passion for helping customers create beautiful, functional outdoor spaces.
Scopeof the Role
The Product Manager will play a pivotal role on the Product Management Team by developing and executing product strategies that align with the company’s goals while consistently managing the product lifecycle of the existing catalog. The position involves conducting thorough market research, a deep understanding of the product catalog, analyzing competitor activities, and collaborating with cross‑functional teams to ensure successful product development, launch, catalog management, and ideating new data‑driven product concepts.
Product Managers build out the Product Roadmap and own the vision for their owned categories.
The Product Manager is a member of the Product Management Team and reports to the Associate Director of Product Management. This position also partners with key cross‑functional team members across the organization.
Essential Functions &Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and market gaps, providing actionable insights to guide product development roadmap.
- Own the product catalog at the SKU level – tracking each product through its lifecycle from ideation to discontinuation.
- Evaluate when to expand, refresh, or retire products, and deploy product development strategies that ensure the catalog remains optimized, competitive, and aligned with customer demand.
- Analyze competitor products, strategies, and market positioning to inform product differentiation and strategic planning.
- Develop and present comprehensive product strategies and roadmaps that align with company goals, ensuring they are grounded in market realities and customer insights.
- Gather, analyze, and integrate customer feedback to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
- Work closely with product development, marketing, and sales teams to ensure alignment and seamless execution of product strategies.
- Track and analyze product performance against established KPIs, making data‑driven recommendations for product adjustments and enhancements.
- Identify opportunities for product innovation and continuous improvement, staying ahead of market trends and customer expectations.
- Develop and refine product positioning and messaging to ensure products stand out in the marketplace and meet customer needs.
- Regularly communicate product strategy, progress, and performance to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and alignment across the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience in product strategy or a related field.
- Strong project management, analytical, and research skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Proficiency in designing product concepts using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or other tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 Suite, as well as data analysis and market research tools.
- Prior experience communicating with vendors and overseas partners.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey ideas clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, demonstrating strong collaboration and interpersonal skills.
