About the Position

The Analyst will report to the head of SSA and will be responsible for supporting the team’s monitoring of economic, political, and regulatory developments in the SSA region. This position is remote, with a short‑term initial contract subject to extension. It is a research contractor role, requiring 1–2 years of work experience.

About the Frontier view Sub‑Saharan Africa (SSA) Team

The contractor will be part of Frontier View's SSA Strategic Insights (SI) team. The SSA SI team produces all syndicated content for Frontier View's client base in the region. The team combines regional knowledge, macroeconomic and political insights, and business acumen to provide impactful analysis forecasts, and executional advice for a senior executive audience. They work in close collaboration with the commercial team in supporting Frontier View's growth strategy and ongoing client relationships.

You

Qualified individuals with a passion for informing the decisions of senior corporate executives are strongly encouraged to apply. This is a unique position that ties together macroeconomic, political, and business analysis directly into corporate plans and actions for the world’s largest multinationals. The contractor will have exposure to engagement with C‑suite level executives, giving them a look into the decision‑making processes of the world’s largest businesses.

Candidates should bring strong macroeconomic fundamentals and a solid understanding of how local dynamics, policy, politics, and other factors can interact with economic dynamics to shape the business environment. They should bring exceptionally strong communication skills, flexibility to adapt to commercial needs, and the ability to get up to speed quickly on unfamiliar topics.

  • Offer exposure to different facets of market research
  • Provide a stimulating and collaborative work environment
  • Develop research and analytical skills based on areas of interest
  • Provide opportunities to listen in on discussions with senior executives, to see how firms utilize macroeconomic analysis in their business planning
  • Provide constructive feedback and coaching to ensure skill development
What To Expect In This Position
  • Conducting primary and secondary research to monitor macroeconomic, political, and business developments in the SSA region, and analyzing their implications for multinational companies
  • Supporting the creation of analysis and presentations advising senior executives in multinational companies on business implications of economic and political developments in SSA
  • Writing research deliverables that are concise and impactful for a senior executive reader
What Sets You Apart
  • A Bachelor's (or preferably Master’s) degree from a top‑tier academic institution in a relevant field, ideally Economics
  • Strong economics knowledge, demonstrated through academic coursework or practical experience; candidates should be able to apply macroeconomic principles to real‑life country developments and draw conclusions about future trends and implications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of key SSA markets through academic and/or professional research experience; an understanding of the current socio‑political and economic environment in the region is particularly key
  • Research experience (in an academic or professional setting) including hypothesis‑testing, structuring complex research projects, primary and secondary research, survey‑building, and other techniques
  • Exceptional communication skills in English; we are looking for someone who is not just fluent in English but also able to distill complex and technical topics for non‑specialists
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to cover a variety of topics and issues, including unfamiliar ones
  • Familiarity with quantitative economic analysis
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills
  • A team‑oriented mindset
