Job Summary
Preparation of proposals/bids, contract negotiation and compliance with contract commitments and commercial risk assessment. Jobs at this level operate with some autonomy but are covered by well‑defined commercial policies. The role allows modification of procedures as long as the end results meet standards of acceptability. Responsible for medium‑sized sales territories.
Roles and Responsibilities- Develop commercial proposals, negotiate contracts, and manage commercial risk to secure profitable business for the Power Conversion business.
- Lead contract negotiations and customer meetings, including legal aspects such as limitation of liability, insurance, and indemnities, and bring the deal to closure/contract signature.
- Create project cash flows based on project profile, exchange rates (USD, CAD, EUR, BRL, etc.) and cost escalation models; become proficient with related financial, cost/pricing and technical tools.
- Develop commercial proposals for low, medium and complex RFQ/RFI/RFPs, working cross‑functionally with Sales, Legal, Finance, Engineering and Sourcing to align customer expectations with the company’s profitability and risk profiles.
- Ensure compliance with the commercial risk process for all transactions and lead the technical, profitability and commercial inputs during presentations at risk meetings.
- Communicate difficult concepts and influence others by guiding them to consider different viewpoints.
- Interface with other GE Vernova businesses and work globally to increase market penetration.
- Use high judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks or problems within projects, markets, sales processes, or customers; assess information quality and ask pertinent questions to stakeholders or customers.
- Offer new solutions to problems outside set parameters and provide recommendations using multiple internal and some external sources.
- Work with regional commercial and risk teams to identify opportunities for simplification and productivity.
- Minimum 5 years of commercial experience.
- Minimum 2 years of contract management / negotiation experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, commercial management, business, and/or contract law.
- Direct experience with commercial offerings on large complex systems in the industrial segment.
- Strong track record of working with cross‑functional teams.
- Technical knowledge of electrical solutions, including automation, low & medium‑voltage motors, and variable speed drives.
- Prior technical sales and contract negotiation experience.
- Strong project time‑management skills.
- Customer‑focused mindset with proven ability to respond quickly to customer needs.
- Strong coordination and influencing skills.
- Knowledge of customer financial drivers and needs.
- Ability to utilize analytical software and sales tools (CRM, Excel, Word, etc.).
- Ability to multi‑task across a variety of projects to strict time scales.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
