About the RoleAncestry is seeking an experienced Spanish-speaking genealogist specializing in Latin America, particularly Mexico, Texas, or the Caribbean, who is eager to contribute to the organization’s long-term success. The candidate will lead research projects, produce exemplary research, and must be proficient in project and client management. Successful research managers are flexible, strong in technology, and meet industry standards for genealogical research. They assist team members in developing their skills and consistently meet performance metrics.
Day-to-DayResearch managers enjoy a flexible schedule, with occasional company meetings and kickoff calls with clients. They work closely with client relationship managers (CRMs) to achieve session objectives. Availability during business hours is required for communication with staff. Time management is key to meeting weekly, monthly, and annual billable targets in our billable environment.
What You Will Do- Provide overall direction, coordination, and quality oversight for client research engagements.
- Guide research strategy, help shape project goals, and ensure alignment with Ancestry’s standards and methodologies.
- Collaborate with internal researchers and cross-functional partners to support smooth project execution.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with clients, offering insights, updates, and expert guidance throughout each engagement.
- Maintain strong organizational practices to support effective time management and project tracking.
- Contribute to a positive, high-performing team environment by modeling best practices and supporting continuous improvement.
- Fluent in Spanish, speaking, reading, and writing with the ability to confidently communicate with clients and interpret historical records.
- Experienced in genealogical research, with depth in at least one of the following focus areas (two or more preferred):
Mexico, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Texas. - Can quickly identify when research is feasible, locate resources, determine how to access them, and communicate promptly when the research is unfeasible.
- Skilled and efficient writer who can produce research journals and reports in English and in Spanish according to company standards.
- Highly organized, with the ability to manage 30–60 ongoing client projects once fully trained.
