Remote Part-time Business Strategist

A leading marketing company is needing a Remote Part-time Business Strategist , 4-6 hours per month on a project by project basis to support the strategic development of small start-up / growing companies. This role is ideal for a seasoned strategist who combines strong business acumen , preferable marketing agency experience , and the ability to design practical growth pathways for SMEs.

The strategy would form part of a Supplier Development business support programme.

• Lead the strategic discovery and analysis of the company’s current operations, service offering, competitive landscape, and growth potential.
• Develop asimple, comprehensive5-year vision (where possible), and
  12-24 monthbusiness strategy, including commercial structure, growth plans, operational optimisation, and strategic priorities.
• Create simple, alignedbrand and marketing strategies, tailored to company objectives, positioning, (and long-term scalability where possible).
• Identify opportunities for revenue growth, service innovation, market expansion, and operational improvement.
• Facilitateonlinestrategic workshops, planning sessions, and stakeholder discussions.
• Provide high-level business advisory inputon additional companies as required, supporting the Director with growth challenges across the portfolio.
• Produce clear strategic documentation, frameworks, and recommended action plans.
• Offer continuity support post-programme (optional), enabling companies to connect with the strategist beyond the six-month programme.

• Proven track record operating as aBusiness Strategist, ideally with experience working across multiple SMEs.
• Preferred:
  
  Previous experience running or owning a marketing agencyor holding a senior strategic leadership role within one.
• Strong expertise in business strategy, organisational growth, and commercial planning.
• Deep understanding ofbrand strategy, marketing strategy, and market positioning.
• Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking capabilities.
• Ability to design clear, actionable strategies that can be implemented by internal teams.
• Confident in leading senior-level discussions, workshops, and strategic consultations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Comfortable working as an independent consultant in a fully online environment (with the option for in-person meetings if based in Jhb). (Most of these companies are rurally-based)
• A seasoned strategist with bothcommercial and marketing expertise.
• Someone who has successfullyrun their own marketing agencyand understands the inner workings of agency environments.
• A consultant able to operate across diverse industries and contribute strategic insight to multiple companies.
• Pragmatic, solutions-driven, and able to guide businesses toward sustainable growth.
