Position: Contractor - Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Specialist - Remote - Full Time

Job Description Overview:

The People Group (TPG) is an umbrella organization supporting a portfolio of growing businesses, including Jam Pot, Byron, Leverage Assistants and other affiliated companies. We collaborate across entities to drive strategic growth initiatives, including mergers, acquisitions, partnerships, and long-term value creation.

As part of our continued expansion, we are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented M&A Specialist to work closely with senior leadership and directly with the Founder on merger and acquisition initiatives across multiple business units.

Role Overview

This role supports end-to-end M&A and corporate development activities, from target identification and financial analysis to due diligence and post-acquisition integration planning. You will operate in a fast-paced, multi-business environment and work directly with executive stakeholders on strategic transactions.

Requirements

Required Experience and Skills:

  • Proven experience in M&A, corporate development, investment banking, private equity, strategy, or finance
  • Strong financial modeling, analytical, and research skills
  • Working knowledge of contracts, with the ability to read, digest, understand, and identify issues, and make light edits when needed
  • Experience managing end-to-end M&A transactions, including deal sourcing (both marketed and off-market), negotiation, diligence, financing, closing, and hands-on support during the first 30–90 days post-close (e.g., basic operations, hiring support, SOPs) before handoff to the operational team
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously
  • Comfortable working remotely and independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally with sellers, brokers, bankers, and other stakeholders
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to operate across multiple businesses and manage competing priorities
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling sensitive and confidential information
  • Comfortable working in a dynamic environment with multiple deals at various stages, including periods of rapid closings as well as slower deal flow, while maintaining parallel progress across industries

Education & Nice to Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience in M&A, corporate development, or transaction advisory
  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master’s in Finance, or equivalent international qualification) is a plus but not required
  • Experience supporting Founder-led, PE-backed, or growth-stage organizations
  • Exposure to multi-entity, cross-border, or roll-up acquisition strategies
  • Experience working in a remote, distributed, or fractional team environment
  • Background in consulting, Big 4, transaction advisory, or similar professional services

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct financial analysis, valuation modeling, and market research
  • Support the evaluation of acquisition, merger, and investment opportunities
  • Assist with due diligence across financial, operational, and strategic areas
  • Prepare deal materials, internal memos, and executive-level presentations
  • Coordinate with legal, finance, and external advisors throughout the transaction lifecycle
  • Support negotiation preparation and transaction structuring
  • Assist with post-acquisition integration planning and performance tracking
  • Maintain deal pipelines, trackers, and documentation across multiple entities
