The Head of Marketplace and Operations is the strategic bridge between our high‑level business goals and our daily business performance. This role is pivotal to the success of our New & Used car business, which hinges on our ability to generate high‑quality traffic and match it with the right vehicle supply. In this role, you will own performance, processes, and planning end‑to‑end, connecting marketing, commercial, and analytics activities to deliver a high‑performing, healthy ecosystem.
You will provide the UK Director and senior leadership with the counsel needed to make critical decisions.
- Drive Marketplace Health:
Rapidly diagnose trends, provide clear insights and recommendations, and drive actions to ensure we achieve our business health and P&L objectives. - Bridge Strategy & Execution:
Deep dive into trends across all product lines (New and Used marketplaces), translating complex data into clear insights and recommendations for the leadership team. - Drive P&L Health:
Work closely with commercial, marketing, finance, and analytics to manage spend and ROI in line with the budget. - Lead planning cycles: lead the bottom‑up planning cycle – covering budgets, QBRs and ongoing monthly forecasts.
- Lead Business Performance Meetings & Comms:
Own weekly trading meetings and business performance comms across the wider business. - Optimise Commercial Processes and Reporting:
Work with Commercial leadership to continually improve our dashboards, reporting & processes. - Team Management: hire, manage and develop a small team who will support the delivery of these objectives.
- First‑hand experience in a data or business analyst role, ideally in a marketplace, e‑commerce or digital business environment. Experience in strategic consulting is a plus.
- A strong commercial mindset and the ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations.
- Very strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional, strategic actions, initiatives and projects.
- Passion for data analysis and natural aptitude for problem‑solving, with the ability to mould this output into a clear storyline.
- Willingness to quickly learn, adapt and apply new skills.
- A creative, entrepreneurial mentality that enjoys experimentation and is willing to take risks.
- Bias for action – attitude to get things done quickly.
- Basic SQL and Excel skills.
