SUPPLY CHAIN BUYER/PLANNER

Responsible for managing and coordinating materials and resources to meet company objectives, ensuring operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Material procurement, production scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Work closely with the Supply Chain team to ensure timely production and excellent customer service.
  • Compare current customer orders and anticipated demand with available inventory of finished goods and raw materials.
  • Issue purchase orders and maintain accurate purchasing records in the ERP system.
  • Manage supplier profiles within ERP and develop key vendor relationships, negotiating terms to ensure mutually beneficial business relationships.
  • Ensure materials are ordered and received to accommodate production schedule, monitoring lead times and adjusting purchase or production plans as needed.
  • Collaborate with the procurement manager to source materials from value-added suppliers, considering responsiveness, service level, MOQ, payment terms, stock hold options, and cost.
  • Support ERP/MRP system improvements for better data accuracy and automation.
  • Update inventory reports by material, SKU, and DOS; use data to improve inventory strategy.
  • Communicate with Sales and Warehouse staff on production timing for out-of-stock items.
  • Develop and maintain material requirement plans (MRP) based on sales forecasts, production schedules, and inventory targets.
  • Coordinate with warehouse and quality teams for proper storage, FIFO rotation, and shelf-life management.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing or materials planning.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management concepts.
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and ERP software.
SKILLS
  • Proficiency in SAP ERP—Purchase order management, inventory control, MPR modules.
  • Microsoft Excel—Pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macro functions.
  • Excellent communication, people and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to analyze data and trends for informed purchasing decisions.

Corporate Headquarters located in Shakopee, MN. Opportunity to work from home 2 days per week.
