Data & Insights Analyst
Job Summary
We are looking for a full‑time Data and Insights Analyst to join our Research and Intelligence team to work on using data across the HFEA including in statistical reports and our award‑winning dashboards, as well managing preparation of large and sensitive datasets for specific research purposes.
We are unable to offer sponsorship for this role and the right to work in the UK will need to be confirmed prior to interview.

About UsThe HFEA is the UK's independent regulator overseeing safe and appropriate practice in fertility treatment and embryo research. We license and monitor clinics carrying out IVF, donor insemination, and human embryo research.
This post is offered as either office based (in which case you will need to attend the office at least one day per week) or home based (in which case office attendance will be specified by your line manager based on business need). Our office is in Stratford, east London, in attractive new premises on the edge of the Olympic Park, alongside several other health Arms Length Bodies.

The Data and Insights Analyst will:
- Lead on external official statistics publications and work with team members to quality assure data.
- Extract information from the register for internal and external publications and prepare datasets for researchers following approvals from the Register Research Panel.
- Prepare data for policy decisions to improve regulation and respond to public enquiries.
- Provide regular, accurate extracts of register data and methodological advice on data projects and publications.
- Contribute to updates of our award‑winning HFEA dashboard and improve data use in regulating licensed fertility clinics.
- Query and extract data from the Register database using Microsoft SQL Server to meet statutory responsibilities, freedom of information requests, parliamentary questions, and high‑level requests.
- Provide data including disclosable protected patient information to external researchers in line with regulations and ensure regulatory exclusions are applied.
- Lead on the development of official statistics publications such as Fertility Trends and other sector reports.
- Populate Power BI with regular extracts and ensure they remain meaningful and accurate.
- Liaise with colleagues across the HFEA and external organisations (Department of Health and Social Care, research establishments, etc.) on register data use.
- Communicate analytical requirements and translate technical specifications with Register and IT teams.
- Create advanced data models in Microsoft SQL and Power BI, including maintenance of the HFEA dashboard.
- Provide line management support and training in SQL and Power BI where relevant.
- Represent the HFEA at conferences, seminars, working groups and panels.
- Maintain a production environment, including change control and release management.
