Risk Management Specialist

Location: Medford, OR - open to remote

Compensation: The full salary range for this position is $50,000-$75,000 annually. The anticipated starting pay is $50,000-$60,000, determined by factors such as skills, experience, and organizational considerations. Final compensation will be established through the interview process in accordance with applicable pay equity and transparency laws.

Position Overview

The Risk Management Specialist supports the administration and oversight of workers’ compensation, auto, property, and general liability claims across a large, multi-site organization. This role partners closely with a Third-Party Administrator (TPA), internal leadership, and store teams to monitor claims throughout their lifecycle, control costs, and reduce future risk. Acting as both an advocate and auditor, the Specialist plays a key role in ensuring effective claims management and risk mitigation.

What

You'll Do
  • Oversee the reporting, auditing, and administration of Auto Liability (AL), General Liability (GL), and Workers’ Compensation (WC) claims handled internally and by the TPA

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for insurance carriers, claim adjusters, and internal stakeholders, providing timely updates and responses

  • Partner with the Senior Specialist and leadership to support risk assessments, hazard identification, and risk mitigation initiatives

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external partners, and store leadership to ensure smooth claims resolution

  • Manage Certificates of Insurance (COIs) and Bonds, ensuring accuracy and compliance

  • Administer internal first-party liability claims not referred to the TPA, including investigations, statement collection, and denial letter drafting

  • Participate in regular claim reviews with the TPA to support action plans for complex claims and process improvements

  • Prepare and present claims data and insights to leadership using Power Point

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain complex information to diverse stakeholders

  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and claim-related timelines simultaneously while meeting deadlines

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through

  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

  • Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners

  • Willingness to learn risk management practices, insurance concepts, and compliance requirements
