Job Purpose and Impact

The Business Development Manager – MHS Pet will focus on driving Cargill’s Micronutrition and Health Solutions (MHS) additives business across the pet food, treats, and supplement categories. The role emphasizes new customer acquisition and development of collaborative business relationships with key strategic partners and accounts. You will drive adoption of Cargill postbiotic and phytogenic solutions, including our industry leading Tru Mune and Epi Cor postbiotics.

You will support our partners’ interest in well‑researched, effective functional health solutions and accelerate adoption of these ingredients in finished products and brands. You will contribute to pet parents wanting longer, happier lives by helping brands recognize their unique vision in the marketplace. You will also support development of Cargill’s commercial pet strategies and craft medium‑to‑long‑range initiatives to protect, grow, and diversify our sales base in North America.

Accountabilities
  • Lead new customer acquisition efforts and grow our pipeline of business opportunities.
  • Develop client retention and growth plans and strategies for profitable business with our existing account base.
  • Identify and handle interactions with varied customer roles – marketing, technical, commercial – and adapt approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Resolve problems and ensure customers receive high‑quality service.
  • Work closely with other critical Cargill functional leaders, including Technical Services, Marketing and Global counterparts, to support commercial efforts.
  • Provide expert thought leadership with limited direction, using research and interpretation to identify issues or problems.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of six years of related work experience in sales, business development or related field.
  • Sales and category experience with pet food, treats, additives, supplement and/or pet ingredient categories.
  • Able and willing to travel up to 40% within US territory.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong drive for identifying and pursuing new business opportunities, with a proactive, independent, and action‑oriented mindset.
  • Deep knowledge of the pet category market landscape and key drivers of growth.
  • Experience working with Salesforce.
Salary & Benefits

The expected salary for this position is $130,000 - $180,000
. Compensation varies based on factors such as location, certifications, education, and experience. This position is eligible for a discretionary incentive award. The incentive amount depends on company performance and your personal performance.
