We are seeking an experienced Raw Material Buyer to join a fast-growing food manufacturing business. This role is essential to ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of the organisation's raw material supply chain, using existing industry networks and building new global supplier relationships.
You will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing raw materials from around the world, with a strong focus on cost, quality, compliance, and continuity of supply
. The successful candidate will be self‑motivated, commercially astute, and confident working independently.
Sourcing & Procurement
- Build, onboard and manage global supplier relationships, ensuring compliance with all regulations.
- Source and purchase raw materials, negotiating best value on price, quality, and delivery.
- Support import, logistics, and factory teams while monitoring market trends, seasonal changes, and product gaps.
- Oversee raw material stock to meet production and sales needs, maintaining accurate costs, supplier data, and POs.
- Drive cost‑saving initiatives and efficiency improvements while aligning with UK/EU legislation and DEFRA standards.
- Attend supplier meetings, trade events, and regular stakeholder updates.
- Assist with selling raw materials to customers across raw material based industries.
- Build and maintain a network of buyers and commercial partners.
- Strong procurement experience in a manufacturing environment with an established industry network.
- Highly organised, adaptable, and able to manage multiple projects independently.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Proficient with data systems and Microsoft Office, with strong attention to detail and accurate record‑keeping.
- Proactive, hands‑on mindset with the ability to plan effectively.
- Remote working capability with flexibility to travel to Derbyshire head office for bi‑weekly scheduled meetings.
