About the Electoral Commission

The Electoral Commission is the UK’s independent body overseeing elections and regulating political finance. Everything we do is about ensuring trust, participation, and integrity in the democratic process.

As we enter a bold new chapter under our five-year Corporate Plan, we are increasing our workforce and transforming how we plan and deliver core services. This post plays a central role in that journey.

About the role

As a Regulatory Panel Support Officer, you’ll support the smooth and efficient running of the Commission’s regulatory decision‑making panels. You’ll play a vital part in ensuring high‑quality documentation, accurate recording of decisions, and well‑organised panel processes that underpin fair and consistent regulatory outcomes. You will also undertake early case review of reports of potentially non-compliance campaign materials as we expand our early intervention function.

Your day-to-day work will include:

  • Preparing panel papers, organising documentation, and scheduling meetings
  • Recording and communicating panel decisions clearly, ensuring case management systems are updated
  • Supporting administrative tasks within regulatory casework, including logging new case information and undertaking initial reviews of reported campaign materials.
  • Providing initial analysis of panel decision patterns to support learning and process improvement.

You’ll gain exposure to a wide range of regulatory activity and develop your expertise in decision-making processes, casework, quality assurance, and governance. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their regulatory career in a supportive environment.

About the team

You will join a newly established function within the Regulatory Support area – a small, collaborative team comprising two caseworkers and a manager, as well as a matrix team of advisers supporting transparency in campaign materials. The team plays a key role in early regulatory intervention, undertaking casework, managing panel administration, and ensuring high-quality standards across regulatory processes.

It’s an exciting time to join as we shape new ways of working and continuously improve our regulatory support frameworks.

Who we’re looking for

This role would suit someone with strong administrative experience who enjoys working with processes, documentation, and detailed information. You’ll be comfortable handling sensitive data and have the confidence to work independently within established procedures.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has experience providing administrative support in regulatory, legal, governance, or similar environments
  • Has excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Brings accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organisational skill
  • Is confident using case management systems, MIcrosoft
    365 and Share Point
  • Can interpret technical information and follow set processes consistently

Why work for us?

Working at the Electoral Commission means joining a highly committed public body with a strong mission and supportive culture.

We offer a strong total reward package, including:

  • Flexible working and hybrid model (40% office minimum)
  • 28 rising to 30 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Study support for professional qualifications
  • Ongoing learning and development opportunities
  • Ride2
