Role Overview
Lead technical support and guidance for fire safety management and fire/explosion risk for one of the UK’s leading health and safety consultancy providers.
Influence and develop technical fire safety standards and frameworks, implementing competence requirements for Health & Safety Consultants.
Remote role with UK-wide travel required – work from home when not attending client visits.
Responsibilities- Act as the first escalation point for fire and fire risk assessment related technical queries, enhancing and maintaining the fire safety skills of the consultancy team.
- Work closely with key business stakeholders, including the Consultancy team, NFU Mutual Agents, and the Sales team, to deliver departmental objectives and promote the Health & Safety consultancy agenda.
- Conduct cross‑regional audits, support competency frameworks, and provide technical guidance through site visits and industry engagement.
- Contribute to research, production, and publication of technical guidance and data.
- Deliver relevant projects as required, including preparing the business for UKAS accreditation for fire risk assessment (e.g., BAFE).
- Member of the Institute of Fire Engineers (MIFireE) and/or Member of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers (MIFSM). Membership of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (cert
IOSH/CMIOSH) is desirable. - A fire safety qualification (minimum Level 4 Diploma or equivalent).
- Recent relevant, fire and building‑related legislative and industry standard awareness.
- Experience completing complex fire risk assessments in a variety of premises and occupations, with experience of risk assessments of potentially explosive atmospheres desirable.
- Proven fire risk assessment consultancy experience, ideally in line with UKAS FRA accreditation.
- Project management experience.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, strong mentoring, coaching, and influencing abilities.
- Effective time management, development, and presentation skills.
- Full UK driving licence; travel across the UK required.
- Salary of £60,000 to £70,000 (Level
