About the roleWe are currently seeking a friendly, hardworking, conscientious individual to join our team as a Business & Technical Support Officer. The successful candidate will join a multi-skilled team providing business support to Planning, Planning Policy, Environmental Health, Trading Standards and Building Control. You will be responsible for undertaking a wide range of technical and administrative duties, whilst providing excellent standards of customer service, with conflicting priorities and continual development.
You will be part of a team of four Business & Technical Support Officers, who work on a rota system of Office and Working from Home (WFH), to enable office and phone cover until 5pm (Monday – Thursday) and 4.30pm on a Friday. Full training will be provided for this role, and you will be expected to work from the Office until your training has been satisfactorily completed.
As a Business & Technical Support Officer, you will have experience in working in a fast paced, busy office environment working with data management.
Responsibilities- Registering and maintaining accurate applications/records
- Offer technical advice to the public on basic Building Regulations & Planning enquiries
- Receive, receipt, and bank all monies including cash payments and cheques, also take credit card payments over the telephone
- Read/measure scaled plans to assess validity of submissions and fees due on all applications
- Preparation of debtor invoices for any fees or charges due
- Extract data from back-office systems for use in management reports
Do you have:
- 4 GCSE levels grade C or above one of which must be English, or equivalent NVQ or similar. Or significant experience (minimum 5 years) with proven capability in a similarly responsible role
- Experience of working in a fast paced and busy office environment
- Experience in a work situation of data management
- Ability to maintain good standards of work and accuracy with minimal supervision and ability to exercise good judgement
- Excellent oral and written communication skills both face to face and on the telephone
