WSP is looking for a Senior Bid Writer to craft proposal narratives on large, complex multidisciplinary bids in strategic growth areas including energy transition, healthcare, advisory and defence. The role supports bid teams by articulating WSP’s solutions and value propositions, ensuring a consistent voice and competitive differentiation.
Key Responsibilities- Understand internal and external client requirements to lead development of quality solutions and author strategic bids across WSP UK.
- Lead content planning of key responses, dissecting, analysing and fully answering questions with consideration of client drivers and value proposition.
- Develop responses from initial content planning through drafting, quality reviews to final production and submission, including authoring, developing and tailoring material.
- Use and refine WSP’s in‑house style guidance, mentor bid team members and coach subject matter experts in best‑practice writing for bids, client presentations and sales collateral.
- Support bid capture, planning, review, governance, feedback and continuous improvement processes as required.
- Build and maintain close links with our network of bid professionals and subject matter experts, identify and collate best‑practice and innovation, and articulate these into strategic bids.
- Insightful, analytical and articulate, with a talent for shaping tailored strategies and narrative approaches that address unique requirements.
- A strong will to win, coupled with genuine passion for writing and flexibility to work closely with bid and technical experts.
- Minimum seven years of relevant experience in a similar role, with an understanding of bid‑writing best practice and the bid lifecycle.
- Experience producing bids in markets where WSP operates, including Transport & Infrastructure, Earth & Environment, Property and Buildings, Industry & Energy, and Defence.
- Demonstrable record of success developing solutions and translating them into winning written proposals.
- Excellent command of written English, with strong long‑form content development, writing, editing and proofreading skills.
- Ability to build relationships quickly, deliver effective teamwork within newly created bid teams and influence at senior levels.
- Degree level qualification in Engineering or a related subject; an English degree preferred; subjects such as History, Marketing, Journalism or similar considered.
