About the roleTransport Services manages the maintenance and repair of the Council’s vehicle fleet, plant and equipment in accordance with legal regulations and performer standards. The Workshop Assistant role supports supervisors and the Workshop Manager by assisting in the day‑to‑day operations of the Council’s fleet maintenance workshop. You will support qualified technicians in servicing and maintaining the diverse vehicle fleet and help ensure fleet vehicles are safe, roadworthy and available to deliver Council services.
Qualificationsand experience
- Standard secondary / comprehensive education (minimum) including GCSE level English and Maths or demonstrable relevant experience.
- Willingness and ability to undertake training as required to meet job criteria.
- Recent exposure within a transport logistics environment, workshop setting or equivalent.
- Interest in vehicle maintenance or mechanical work.
- Flexibility to work in a busy environment.
- Knowledge of Council aims and values and how they impact the transport role.
- Experience operating computer/laptop/devices.
