Business Analyst (Fixed Term)
We’re looking for a Business Analyst to join our IT team on a 12-month fixed term basis, helping us strengthen how we understand, document and improve business processes across SOSE. South of Scotland Enterprise (also known as SOSE) is the dedicated Economic and Community Development Agency for the Scottish Borders and Dumfries and Galloway. We were established by the Scottish Government and represent a fresh approach to driving growth across a very special region in a way that benefits all.
Jobs, businesses, communities and the environment are all equally important to us.
- Act as a key link between business teams and digital delivery, ensuring processes are clearly defined, well understood and consistently applied across the organisation.
- Map and document end‑to‑end business processes, working closely with stakeholders to understand how things operate in practice.
- Engage with colleagues across teams to identify inefficiencies, risks and opportunities for improvement, supporting the development of As‑Is and To‑Be views alongside structured gap analysis.
- Capture processes in appropriate digital tools and systems, ensuring they are accurate, accessible and aligned to organisational standards.
- Facilitate workshops and contribute to requirements gathering, helping to shape solutions that are grounded in real business needs.
- Support the delivery of change and continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with digital teams, ensuring solutions are fit for purpose and reflect how the organisation needs to operate both now and in the future.
- Solid experience working as a Business Analyst, or in a similar role, with a strong track record in process mapping and continuous improvement.
- Supported change or transformation initiatives and have a clear understanding of how systems, data and business processes interact.
- Experience using tools to document, analyse and manage processes to ensure work is structured, consistent and easy to communicate.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment where priorities may shift and different perspectives need to be balanced.
- Familiarity with recognised process modelling approaches, such as BPMN or Lean, is advantageous.
- Experience working with CRM systems or supporting digital delivery activity is advantageous.
