Essential Requirements- Up to four years’ relevant management experience in the specialised area.
- Recent practical experience in managing financial and human resources.
- Recent practical experience in undertaking procurement processes.
- Practical experience of managing and effectively working with small and medium sized teams.
- Experience of change management.
- Practical experience of partnership and collaborative approaches to service delivery.
Reporting to the Service Manager – Transport & Depots, the Transport Manager will lead the delivery and continuous improvement of the Corporate Passenger Transport Unit, ensuring services are responsive to the needs of service users, communities, and the Council’s strategic priorities.
The postholder will oversee service performance across key transport functions, ensuring high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective service delivery within agreed budgets. They will contribute to policy development, prepare operational reports, provide professional advice to senior management, and support informed decision-making.
The role requires effective partnership working with internal departments, external organisations, transport operators, and stakeholders, representing the Council at local, regional, and national forums. The successful candidate will also lead and support transport-related projects, drive innovation and service improvement, and foster a culture that embraces change, flexibility, and continuous development.
