Telford & Wrekin Council is looking to recruit two home‑working Revenues Officers:
- One 37‑hour permanent contract
- One 37‑hour 12‑month temporary contract
You will be part of our award‑winning Revenues Team, responsible for either the collection of Council Tax, Business Rates and Miscellaneous Income accounts (invoicing & collection) or for the billing of Council Tax and Business Rates. Full training and ongoing coaching/mentoring will be given. We are looking for individuals who are committed to delivering a quality service to the Telford & Wrekin customers.
KeyRequirements
In Revenues you need a broad skill set, as you will be dealing with a wide variety of people, from customers receiving invoices for various services the Authority provides, council tax payers, businesses, benefit claimants and other support agencies. You will need to be good with numbers, able to interpret and explain legislation, policies and procedures, and be proficient with using IT systems.
Skillsand Experience
- An organised approach to work to achieve targets.
- An ability to deal with customers in a professional, courteous and unbiased manner, to provide a high quality customer service.
- Excellent communication skills; both oral and written to be able to explain legislation, policy and procedures and communicate effectively to customers.
- The ability to process high volumes of work efficiently and effectively with a high degree of accuracy.
- Knowledge surrounding the legislation for Sundry Debt Income, billing and collection of Council Tax, National Non‑Domestic Rates and Housing Benefit Over payments is desirable. However, full training will be provided.
Whilst previous experience is not essential, you will require a sound knowledge of education, excellent communication and customer service skills, along with a pro‑active approach to all areas of work with a keen eye for accuracy.
As a council employee you will be expected to demonstrate the Council’s Core Behaviours and fully abide by the Health and Safety Policy and the Council’s policies for Data Protection and Information Security.
