The Role &

Key Responsibilities

An opportunity has become available for a full time Payroll Administrator on a fixed term contract until 31st March 2027 within the Sussex Payroll team.

The Payroll Team offer first line customer support to both internal and external customers. The role offers an excellent insight into the different areas of Pay and is an ideal opportunity for anyone looking to pursue a career in this area.

You will be dealing with a wide range of queries, including pension, tax and NI queries. By nature this role shall require someone who thrives in a busy working environment.

The role shall expose you to a wide range of issues and you will be responsible for assessing the nature of the query before providing advice and guidance to customers, escalating the query to support teams where necessary.

In order to be successful in the role you will have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people. The ability to work as part of a team and on your own is essential. You should also be well-organised, show initiative and adaptability and be committed to delivering excellent customer service across our organisation.

Skills & Experience

In this role you will be:

• Educated to GCSE level standard or equivalent minimum.

• Demonstrate some experience in a Payroll or similar environment.

• Demonstrate experience in dealing with customers in person and over the phone.

• The ability to build good rapport with internal and external stakeholders.

• Organised and methodical with a high attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work under tight time pressures and to strict deadlines.

• Good IT Skills – Microsoft Office. Good Keyboard and data entry skills and strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy of data. Knowledge of Excel a definite advantage.

• Demonstrable good written and verbal communication skills.
