Role Overview
We are seeking a Vice President – Business Risk and Solutions to join our Markets Operations team in Belfast. This is a key leadership role responsible for driving risk management, governance, and operational solutions across the FICC business, ensuring the firm's risk posture remains robust, well-controlled, and aligned to regulatory expectations.
The successful candidate will bring a strong risk-oriented mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills, and a proven ability to deliver results in a complex, fast-paced financial services environment. Working closely with senior leadership across Operations, Risk, and Compliance, this role offers significant visibility and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across a globally recognised financial institution.
What you’ll doRisk Framework Development
- Support the design and implementation of risk management frameworks in partnership with the Risk and Control team.
- Contribute to the identification, measurement, management, and mitigation of operational risks across the Markets Operations function.
- Maintain awareness of the evolving risk landscape and proactively elevate emerging risks to senior leadership.
- Prepare and deliver management information (MI), and operational metrics to senior leadership.
- Provide actionable insights and recommendations to address operational, financial, reputational, and strategic risks.
- Support the development of risk mitigation strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Contribute to the design and maintenance of governance frameworks that ensure accountability and transparency across all risk and solutions work streams.
- Ensure adherence to regulatory standards and internal policies across all areas of responsibility.
- Prepare and present clear, concise reporting to senior stakeholders and governance forums.
- Foster collaboration across Operations, Finance, Risk, Compliance, and other key departments.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal stakeholders and represent the Business Risk and Solutions function in cross-functional working groups and governance committees.
- Engage confidently with senior stakeholders, providing clear and well-structured communications both written and verbal.
- Proven experience in risk management, business solutions, or a related strategic role within the financial services industry.
- Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and governance frameworks relevant to Markets Operations or FICC businesses.
- Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and maintain risk frameworks and operational policies.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent activities and complex projects within a high-risk regulatory and operational environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage confidently at VP level and above and articulate complex recommendations clearly — both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated risk-oriented mindset combined with a focus on driving operational improvement and business solutions.
- Proficiency in data-driven decision-making and analytical problem-solving.
- Highly organised, results-oriented, and proactive, with the ability to manage multiple work streams simultaneously in a dynamic, high-pressure environment.
- Experience in one or more of the following disciplines, including Records Management, Continuity of Business (CoB), or Third Party Management.
- Experience managing third party risk, including vendor due diligence, risk assessments, and ongoing monitoring.
- Knowledge of records management tools and platforms
- Experience in Market Operations or a FICC-aligned business environment is desirable.
