Registration & Compliance Specialist

The Registration & Compliance Specialist (PII) will play an important role in supporting RICS’ regulatory objectives by managing PII-related dispensations, risk assessments and compliance activity. This is a visible role within the organisation, requiring a good understanding of regulatory standards, risk evaluation and the insurance landscape in the UK and globally.

• Own and manage complex captive dispensations, producing detailed risk assessments and seeking appropriate approvals.
• Make informed decisions on general dispensations in collaboration with the Registration and Compliance team, ensuring consistency through regular meetings with the Head of Regulation and Managers.
• Lead on the assigned risk pool, monitoring and ensuring appropriate controls are in place.
• Represent Regulation in Insight Meetings and Market Liaison Groups, providing input based on current PII practice and regulatory standards.
• Maintain regular engagement with insurers and the standards team to support consistency with evolving requirements.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to advise on, or contribute to, any PII rule or standard changes.
• Engage in regular insight meetings both internally and with external bodies as needed.
• Train and develop the Registration & Compliance teams, as well as other regulatory teams such as the Investigations team, acting as a subject matter expert on all PII matters.
• Lead internal dispensation meetings, reporting to Managers and actively identifying and implementing process improvements.
• May be required to present to the Standards and Regulation Board (SRB) and other senior committees.
• Act as a key point of expertise across the business, advising on PII issues and good practice, and communicating complex risk issues clearly in both written and verbal formats.

The role is hybrid, with 60% of working time spent in the office and 40% working from home.

• Experience in the insurance industry, particularly in Professional Indemnity Insurance.
• Strong knowledge of UK and global PII rules and regulatory standards.
• Demonstrated ability to assess and communicate complex risk issues and make considered regulatory decisions.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information confidently to senior stakeholders.
• Experience in leading meetings, influencing internal policy, and managing stakeholder relationships.
• Good attention to detail, analytical capability and a structured approach to documentation and risk evaluation.
• Experience working within a regulatory body or professional standards organisation.
• Knowledge of RICS’ regulatory framework and processes.
• Background in training or mentoring within a regulatory or insurance environment.
