The Vacancy

Our Third Party Administration (TPA) department is a dynamic administration team with a varied portfolio of clients. They play a key part in providing our clients and members with a market-leading service on Defined Benefits (DB), Defined Contribution (DC) and CARE pension arrangements.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join this department as a Payroll Administrator on a fixed term basis, within our Glasgow office.

What will your role look like?

As a Payroll Administrator, you'll play an important role in delivering an accurate, efficient and high-quality pensioner payroll and cash management service to clients and scheme members. You'll ensure payroll activities are completed on time, in line with service standards and regulatory requirements, while helping to provide a reliable and seamless experience for members.

  • Processing pension payrolls accurately and ensuring pension payments are made on time.
  • Calculating and applying PAYE deductions, including supporting monthly and year-end submissions to HMRC.
  • Maintaining pensioner records, including tax code updates and pension increases.
  • Producing and issuing pension payslips and related member communications.
  • Responding to pension and payroll-related queries from members and other stakeholders.
  • Managing and reconciling pension payroll bank accounts and supporting cash management activities.
  • Supporting the onboarding of new client pension payroll services.
  • Maintaining accurate records through document scanning, indexing and administration.
  • Liaising with third-party suppliers, banking contacts and investment managers as required.
  • Contributing to the ongoing development and improvement of pension payroll services and processes.
  • Monitoring payroll supplies and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the service.
  • Adhering to Hymans Robertson's information security standards, policies and procedures.
To enjoy and succeed in this role, you will have:
  • GCSEs / Scottish Standards (or equivalent) in Maths and English, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • A professional qualification, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience of pensioner payroll administration and payroll-related systems.
  • Knowledge of PAYE, statutory deductions and HMRC monthly and year-end submissions.
  • Understanding of pension payroll legislation, regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Experience of delivering a high-quality service in a client-focused environment.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Calm, resilient and able to maintain accuracy under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and a collaborative, team-focused approach.
  • Good IT skills and the ability to quickly learn new systems and processes.
