SEND Improvement Project Officer

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated SEND Improvement Project Officer, on a full time permanent basis, to support the delivery of Bracknell Forest’s SEND Improvement Programme. This is a key role within a complex and fast-moving programme of work, helping to coordinate improvement activity, governance arrangements, partnership engagement and programme delivery across the local area.

At Bracknell Forest, we pride ourselves on being a council which is stable and well-managed where our employees can thrive in a supportive environment. We understand the importance of a healthy work-life balance and offer a variety of flexible working practices, including options for remote working and arrangements that allow you to work from home, dependent on the needs of the service.

This role includes an expectation to work from our Time Square office 1 day per week, alongside flexible working arrangements.

About you…

As a SEND Improvement Project Officer, you will be an organised, proactive and detail-focused professional with excellent communication, coordination and analytical skills. You will be confident managing competing priorities, building positive working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, and supporting delivery within a fast-paced and evolving environment.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively across organisational boundaries, demonstrating professionalism, sound judgement and sensitivity within a partnership and politically aware setting. You will also have the ability to present information clearly, monitor progress effectively and contribute to continuous improvement activity that supports better outcomes for children and young people with SEND and their families.

About the team…

This hybrid role is based at our Time Square offices in Bracknell and sits within a small, supportive and collaborative team leading SEND improvement activity on behalf of the local area partnership.

You will work closely with colleagues across the Council, education settings, health partners, social care services, Parent Carer representatives and external regulators to help coordinate and deliver improvement priorities. The role provides the opportunity to contribute to meaningful change across the local SEND system, ensuring the voices of children, young people and families remain central to our work.

Key responsibilities…
  • Support the delivery of SEND improvement initiatives across Bracknell Forest, ensuring alignment with national reform, statutory requirements, regulatory expectations and local priorities.
  • Coordinate governance arrangements, including programme boards, partnership groups and meetings, ensuring effective administration, documentation and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor and track programme actions, risks and dependencies to support effective delivery, oversight and assurance of SEND improvement activity.
  • Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with partners across education, health, social care and parent carer forums to support integrated working.
  • Prepare high-quality briefings, reports, presentations and communications, ensuring accurate and timely information sharing across the SEND partnership.
Our benefits…
  • 28 days annual leave increasing to 33 days after 3 years' continuous service, with the opportunity to buy up to 10 and sell up to 5 days.
  • Hybrid working opportunities to support your wellbeing and work-life balance.
  • Paid employee volunteering scheme.
  • Local government pension scheme, with life insurance cover.
  • Electric vehicle salary sacrifice scheme (subject to eligibility).
  • Recognition of continuous service attained within the NHS and UKHSA when calculating some benefits. (Terms and Conditions apply)
  • Career development through internal and external training opportunities.
  • Enhanced maternity, paternity, adoption and fostering leave.
  • Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to support your health and wellbeing
  • Inclusive and social working environment with a variety of staff networks and a sports and social club.
