Department Overview Working within the International commercial team, this role provides an excellent opportunity to deliver commercial excellence within a world-leading mission-critical security communications solutions provider. This role is fundamental to the strategy of supporting both the implementation of major projects as well as in-life managed service requirements.

Although you will be a key member of the team working on a range of challenging and vital issues, this role focuses on our Guardian products. Motorola Solutions’ Guardian is a market-leading, cloud-hosted public safety control room platform designed to modernise and simplify emergency response workflows. Comprising Integrated Communications Control Systems (ICCS), Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD), and robust mobile applications, Guardian enables UK emergency services to seamlessly manage 999 contacts, dispatch crews, and coordinate complex multi-agency incident responses.

By consolidating operations into a resilient, shared intelligence hub, Guardian reduces the cognitive load on call handlers, facilitates rapid cross-border collaboration, and ensures frontline responders arrive on-scene equipped with critical, real-time data. This role will specifically champion the commercial success of Guardian within the context of the Emergency Services Mobile Communications Programme (ESMCP). The ESMCP is the UK Home Office’s mandate to transition emergency responders to the next-generation, 4G-based Emergency Services Network (ESN).

Under this pivotal contract, Motorola Solutions is responsible for delivering complex software development and system upgrades to ensure the Guardian ICCS and wider control room infrastructure are fully compatible with the ESN. You will be commercially navigating this high-stakes development landscape, ensuring the successful delivery and integration of these critical systems for 3ES (Police, Fire, and Ambulance) organisations and the Home Office.

Job Description As a Commercial Manager, you will provide strategic leadership and expert oversight for our Guardian contracts. You will act as the primary commercial lead, ensuring all contractual arrangements are robust, compliant, and optimised to support the delivery of essential services to UK blue light customers. You will bridge the gap between technical, operational, finance and legal functions, translating complex contractual obligations into actionable business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Contract Leadership:
Lead the full 3rd party contract lifecycle for key strategic and operational suppliers, encompassing the entire journey from mobilisation and performance management to renewal or exit strategies.

Commercial Negotiation & Governance:
Lead negotiations for complex contract changes, renewals, and new service agreements. Ensure all commercial agreements align with company strategy, risk appetite, and Delegation of Authority (DOA) processes.

Legal & Regulatory Compliance:
Provide expert guidance on UK and European contract law, data protection, and regulatory requirements specific to the telecommunications sector. Manage complex contract change requests by evaluating customer requirements and coordinating with legal and commercial teams.…
