Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager

About the role

Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for Health Safety and Wellbeing Manager to join our growing team at our Longside Substation site in Peterhead, Aberdeenshire.

The position is a full-time, site-based role located at our Longside substation site. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing professional support and guidance across the project, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders including the client (SSE), project delivery team, and supply chain partners. The role demands effective communication, collaboration, and a strong on-site presence to support operational excellence and project success.

The role will liaise with the client and ensure smooth co-ordination between Netherton Hub and Longside.

The HSW Manager will support the Balfour Beatty Health, Safety and Wellbeing function in driving HSW performance by providing efficient and effective advice and support. The role will ensure operational requirements are met and, where possible, exceeded, while contributing to the achievement of Zero Harm objectives.

Responsibilities include:

• Support delivery of UK Zero Harm Strategy and associated action plans.
• Support the UK HS&W Director by leading on the identification, development, agreement, and commissioning of content for SHELT, ExCo, Group Forum, S&S Committee and other business meetings.
• Collate and update weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports.
• Utilise the findings from reporting data, assessments, surveys, incidents, external and internal audits to identify key trends.
• Manage and deliver enhancements, training and user support for the Project Portal.
• Create training materials/aids and deliver associated training where required.
• Assist in the production and delivery of HS&W Communications.
• Work with HS&W Directors to enhance the processes for learning and embedding lessons learnt.
• Plan, manage and deliver, in liaison with UK Comms function, communications from HS&W Enabling function to wider business and external stakeholders e.g. My Contribution, case studies, Supply Chain Forum etc.
• Provide support and leadership for HS&W centrally led projects, campaign, and events e.g. Zero Harm events, stand downs, conferences and ad hoc activity as required.
• Ad Hoc Business Support including general enquires, assistance requests and referrals and content design.
• Ensure all documentation developed in accordance with Balfour Beatty Branding guidelines
