We are looking for a Product Manager with pre-sales responsibility tolead product strategy and evolution for our Doc Defender platform, reporting to the Head of Product Management of the NEC Evidence and Insights product Pillar.
Doc Defender is an AI-powered automated document redaction solution from primarily designed for police forces and public safety organisations. It helps teams quickly identify and remove sensitive information from documents before they are shared externally and internally.
The role is home based, but will be expected to travel to NEC offices (Chippenham, London, Hemel Hempstead will be the main locations) and customer sites when required.
The Product Manager will be responsible for defining, developing, and delivering high-quality software products that meet customer needs and drive business value. The role combines customer insight, commercial awareness, and technical understanding to shape product strategy, manage roadmaps, and deliver unique, compelling and differentiated enhancements.
Working cross-functionally with engineering, sales, customer success, and stakeholders, the Product Manager ensures products remain competitive, compliant, and aligned to organisational priorities.

Develop, own, and communicate the product roadmap and other standard collateral to ensure all customer facing teams deliver consistent and accurate messaging, effectively communicating our value propositions in language that resonates with customers.
Ensure alignment between customer needs, market trends, and technical capabilities
Contribute to wider portfolio strategy and planning
2. Product Delivery & ExecutionTranslate strategy into well-defined and commercially sound product backlogs and requirements
Ensure that products maximise revenue opportunities in terms of modularity – ensuring we can deploy at a range of price points and up-sell additional capabilities over time
Developing marketing strategies in collaboration with the Public Safety marketing team
Work closely with engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions
Prioritise features and enhancements based on value, risk, and opportunity
Track delivery progress and ensure alignment to agreed milestones
Support successful product launches and releases
Proactively manage the Product Lifecycle, communicating it regularly to the company and customers
- Understand technology and keep abreast with the latest technology
- Research competitors, relevant products, market trends and regularly updatethe product strategy to meet the best commercial outcome
Lead all pre-sales activities for your product/s, engaging regularly with customers to understand needs, challenges, and behaviours and to support new sales opportunities.
Gather andanalysefeedback, usage data, and market trends
Translate insights into product improvements and innovation opportunities
Support and participate in:- Early engagement with sales opportunities
- Research competitors, relevant products, market trends and regularly updatethe product strategy to meet the best commercial outcome
- Identify and develop product enhancement opportunities to grow your product revenues
- Explore and incorporate emerging technologies (including AI where relevant)
- Develop business cases using structured approaches (e.g., Lean Canvas)
