Data Product Manager

The Money and Pensions Service (MaPS) is a UK public body based in Bedford that helps people across the country manage their money and pensions. It delivers services including Money Helper and the Pensions Dashboard, which form part of national digital infrastructure for the pensions sector. MaPS operates within the Technology & Change directorate and works with government departments, regulators, delivery partners and dashboard providers.

The Data Product Manager reports directly to the Lead Data Product Manager within the Data and Analytics team, part of the Technology & Change directorate. The role exists to shape, deliver and continuously improve data products that support the National Pensions Connection Service, the Pensions Dashboard and Money Helper Pensions Dashboard programmes. It provides a single, trusted and authoritative view of service performance for internal users and key external stakeholders including senior leaders, regulators and government departments.

• Lead iterative development of data products aligned with user needs and organisational goals.
• Define user needs, shape roadmaps and backlogs, and prioritise delivery of reporting, analytics and monitoring capabilities.
• Work closely with BI analysts, UI/UX designers, delivery managers, data engineers and external suppliers to improve usability and accessibility.
• Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including those with varying levels of technical understanding, such as regulators and government departments.
• Address legal, privacy and governance issues early in the product lifecycle.
• Use product usage data and evidence to guide prioritisation and lifecycle decisions.
• Ensure products are accessible and valuable to external bodies including government and regulators.
• Maintain roadmaps and backlogs, translating user needs into product outcomes.
• Contribute actively to the wider product community at MaPS.

• Experience managing data products or services such as business intelligence dashboards.
• Familiarity with Agile and Lean practices and tools to support delivery.
• Ability to apply stakeholder insights to improve product outcomes.
• Experience identifying opportunities for reuse and efficiency to create value for money.
• Understanding of product lifecycle phases.
• Ability to identify priority outcomes and use baseline data to manage product performance.

The role is based in Bedford. MaPS operates a hybrid working model with a minimum of 2 days in the office per month. Bedford is the contractual place of work; the number of days working from home is determined primarily by business needs.

The salary is £57,000 per annum.
