The Bureau for Economic Research (BER) has built up a global reputation as one of South Africa's foremost economic research institutes since its creation in 1954. The BER's research mainly comprises the conduct of business surveys and macroeconomic forecasting. The institute is part of Stellenbosch University (SU), but finances itself from the provision of services and other products to clients in the private and public sectors, commissioned research and sponsorships.

Die Buro vir Ekonomiese Ondersoek (BEO) het sedert sy onstaan in 1954 plaaslik en internasionaal 'n reputasie as een van die voorste ekonomiese navorsingsinstellings in Suid-Afrika opgebou. Die BEO fokus hoofsaaklik op sake- en verbruikeropnames, sowel as makroekonomiese vooruitskattings. Die instelling is deel van die Universiteit Stellenbosch (US), maar word gefinansier deur dienste en produkte aan kliënte in die privaat- en openbare sektor te verskaf, navorsingsopdragte en borgskappe.

• General support to the BER internal AI capacity.
• Maintaining data pipelines.
• Supporting academic research and publications.
• Developing analytical tools and dashboards.
• Handling and managing internal and external stakeholder requests related to the BER Data playground.
• Algemene ondersteuning aan die BER se KI kapasiteit.
• Die instandhouding van datapyplyne.
• Ondersteuning aan akademiese navorsing en publikasies.
• Ontwikkel van analitiese instrumente en data verslae en opsommings.
• Hanteer interne en eksterne navrae in verband met die BER se datawerk en spesifiek die  Data playground .

• At least an Honours degree in economics, statistics, or data science (having a master's degree in these fields by 01 January 2027 would be advantageous).
• Proven ability to manage time and work under pressure.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities in English.
• The ability to analyse, interpret and effectively communicate data and economic information, including presenting research findings and technical solutions to clients.
• Experience in R or Python and Linux or cloud servers.
• Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint.
• Strong statistical and mathematical skills.
• An interest in applied economics.
• An aptitude for technical problem-solving and research.
• Minstens 'n honneursgraad in ekonomie, statistiek of datawetenskap ('n meestersgraad teen 01 Januarie 2027 sal voordelig wees).
• Bewese vermoë om tyd te kan bestuur en onder druk te kan werk.
• Uitstekende mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede in Engels.
• Die vermoë om data en ekonomiese inligting te analiseer, interpreteer en effektief te kommunikeer, insluitend aanbiedings aan kliënte oor navorsvingsbevindinge en tegniese oplossings.
• Ervaring met R or Python en Linux or  cloud servers .
• Vaardig in MS Word, MS Excel, en MS PowerPoint.
• Sterk statistieke en wiskundige vaardighede.
• 'n Belangstelling in toegepaste ekonomie.
• ' Aanvoeling vir tegniese probleemoplossing en navorsing.

• Knowledge of APIs, Docker, and web development.
• A Git Hub repository demonstrating your work.
• Kennis van verskillende data protokolle (APIs), Docker, en web-ontwikkeling.
