Workday Consultant

Drive planning transformation for higher education and public-sector organizations as a Workday Consultant
. In this remote, client-facing contract role, you will help finance, budget, HR, and executive stakeholders modernize budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, reporting, and long-range financial planning through Workday Adaptive Planning.

You will combine expertise in higher education and/or government finance with hands-on solution design, model configuration, stakeholder engagement, and AI-accelerated delivery. From leading discovery workshops and translating business processes into scalable planning models to developing executive reporting and supporting go-live, you will help clients bring greater structure, accountability, and insight to complex financial environments.

• Lead discovery workshops with Finance, Budget, HR, Provost, Institutional Research, Student Affairs, department, and executive stakeholders.
• Design and configure Workday Adaptive Planning models, dashboards, reports, and reporting solutions.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, enrollment and tuition revenue planning, long-range financial planning, grants and auxiliary planning, capital planning, and personnel budgeting initiatives.
• Apply AI tools to accelerate configuration, documentation, testing, analysis, and delivery while validating the quality and accuracy of AI-generated output.
• Support the use of Workday Adaptive Decision Intelligence for scenario modeling, simulations, natural-language planning questions, and governed decision-making.
• Translate organizational processes into scalable planning models and effective reporting solutions.
• Conduct testing, validation, training, optimization, and go-live support.
• Assist with roadmap development, optimization assessments, and process improvement initiatives.
• Contribute to proposal development, demonstrations, and solution discussions.
• Mentor junior consultants and support the development of consulting methodologies and AI accelerators.

• At least 4 years of relevant experience in one or more of the following:
• Higher education finance or budgeting
• Government or public-sector budgeting and financial planning
• FP&A or planning transformation consulting
• Workday Adaptive Planning consulting or administration
• Experience working within or supporting higher education institutions and/or government organizations.
• Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, workforce planning, and financial reporting processes.
• Experience leading client-facing meetings, discovery sessions, and workshops.
• Ability to translate business processes into scalable planning models.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI tools professionally, including writing effective prompts, validating AI-generated output, and incorporating AI into daily delivery.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• Experience supporting solution design, testing, validation, training, or go-live activities.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with financial, operational, HR, academic, administrative, and executive stakeholders.

• Active Workday Adaptive Planning certification.
• Familiarity with Workday Adaptive Decision Intelligence or scenario-based, AI-driven planning.
• Experience with enrollment planning, tuition and financial aid modeling, or faculty demand and workload planning.
• Experience with workforce planning, personnel budgeting, or vacancy management.
• Experience with long-range financial planning, grants management, fund forecasting, auxiliary planning, capital planning, or strategic initiative planning.
• Knowledge of budget book and ACFR reporting processes.
• Experience integrating planning solutions with ERP and SIS platforms such as Banner, Workday, Colleague, People Soft, Ellucian, Tyler Technologies, Munis, Oracle, or SAP.
• Experience with Office Connect, dashboards, and executive reporting.
• Experience applying AI tools to consulting, financial analysis, or modeling work.
• Prior consulting experience.
• Experience supporting proposals, demonstrations, or solution discussions.
• Interest in mentoring junior consultants and contributing to consulting methodologies or AI accelerators.
