Purchasing Agent - Objective

The Wisconsin Department of Veterans Affairs (WDVA), has an opening for a Purchasing Agent – Objective position at the Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove (WVHUG). The Veterans Home provides professional skilled nursing care including long-term care and protective memory care.

The WVHUG campus is located off Highway 11 in-between Burlington and Racine and is a short drive from Milwaukee, Kenosha, and other key locations throughout southeastern Wisconsin. The facility is surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful natural landscapes.

This position is responsible for the procurement of goods and services primarily for the WVHUG and for the agency as needed. Responsibilities include purchasing, procurements, contractual services, requisitions, managing contracts, resolving disputes, asset management, and auditing. The incumbent applies associated state and federal requirements, administrative code, WDVA policies, and the State Procurement Manual. The position also require quarterly trips to the Veterans Home in King, WI to provide logistical support.

The starting salary for this position is between $32.00 - $35.00 an hour ($66,560 – $72,800 annually). The Purchasing Agent – Objective classification is in pay schedule and range 07-04.

Salaries are dependent on candidate qualifications. Pay for current and new state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan in effect at the time of appointment.

This position is eligible to work remotely up to two days per week after an initial training period. Remote work is intended to be performed primarily in the State of Wisconsin. High speed internet access is a requirement of remote work. Remote work options are subject to change based on business needs.

Due to the nature of the position, WDVA will conduct a background check prior to an offer of employment.

Employment in this position is contingent upon passing a pre-employment tuberculosis (TB) skin test.

A 12-month probationary period may be required.
