Wandiyali is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation, established in Newcastle in 1997. We are the largest accredited Aboriginal provider of PSP OOHC within Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Region, and Port Stephens. Wandiyali also has a number of Preservation Programs and support services that work closely with children, young people, and families.
Wandiyali strives to employ, support, and develop therapeutic skills of Aboriginal people who have a passion for working in this sector.

Job DescriptionThe primary function of the PSP Foster Care Caseworker is to:
- Ensure a high-quality service which is in line with the Aboriginal Case Management Policy directed at supporting and advocating for the welfare, family/kin connections, Cultural connections which are in the best interests of children, young people in Out of Home Care and their families.
- Provide safe, stable, and suitable permanency options for children and young people, and
- The provision of high-quality case management of children and young people to meet their Cultural, day-to-day care and support needs.

Qualifications- A commitment to the Vision, Mission, and Values of our Organisation.
- Aboriginal or/and Torres Strait Islander, or Culturally confident and able to demonstrate their knowledge and experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community.
- Relevant qualifications and experience working with Children and Young People in the statutory care system.
- Sound understanding of the developmental needs of children and young people, families and parents and a comprehensive understanding of key risk factors of trauma on childhood development.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and working with children and young people.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise, advocate with and maintain positive working relationships with relevant government and non-government professionals, community groups, services, and agencies.
- Demonstrated time management and reflective practice skills in a busy environment with many competing priorities.
- Demonstrated effective communication including active listening and negotiation skills to manage conflicts and maintain positive working relationships.
- Demonstrated experience in written communication that is appropriate to the audience and report writing skills.
- Intermediate level of computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to participate positively in teamwork, training, and supervision processes.
