Position Title: Project Engineer / QC

Salary Range: $65,000 - $75,000 per year (depending on experience)
Job OverviewThe Contractor Consultants is seeking a detail‑oriented and motivated Project Engineer / QC to support the execution of commercial and industrial construction projects at the P66 Refinery. This hybrid role supports both project management and quality control functions‑ensuring construction excellence from pre‑construction planning through final closeout. The ideal candidate will be responsible for inspecting site activities, coordinating project documentation, and managing contractor compliance while working closely with the Project Manager and Superintendent.
Key Responsibilities- Safety
- Know, follow, and enforce all company and client safety rules.
- Lead by example in implementing GPC's Corporate Safety Policy.
- Complete safety reports within 24 hours.
- Pre‑Construction
- Review and interpret project contracts, submittals, drawings, specifications, and layout plans.
- Attend pre‑construction meetings with project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with Estimating to set budgets, codes, purchase orders, and procurement planning.
- Ensure subcontractor insurance and indemnification requirements are met.
- Plan and direct project engineering efforts including permits, layout, and documentation.
- Construction
- Perform daily jobsite inspections.
- Coordinate material deliveries and verify scheduling with vendors.
- Ensure compliance with state, federal, and industry codes.
- Maintain communication with clients, architects, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
- Maintain accurate records (as‑builts, photos, material logs, cost reports, etc.).
- Oversee subcontractor pre‑work requirements, scheduling, and pay estimates.
- Track and update quantities, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and project documentation.
- Quality Control (QC)
- Conduct audits and inspections to meet QC requirements.
- Learn and apply QC programs and applicable construction codes.
- Maintain all inspection and system verification records.
- Post‑Construction
- Lead project closeout process, including walkthroughs with the project team and client.
- Audit paid quantities and finalize project records.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field; or 2‑5 years relevant construction experience.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and capable of learning project management software.
- Able to read and interpret construction documents, specifications, and contracts.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
- Must be willing to travel to remote jobsite locations as needed.
- Valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle record required.
- Must pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol screening in accordance with COP's requirements.
- Role requires time spent on active construction sites‑exposure to outdoor conditions and various weather environments is expected.
- May encounter work environments with moving machinery, heights, loud noise, or airborne particles.
