Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS)

Braintree or Chatham with remote working

£55-65k (DOE), car/allowance and excellent benefits package

An integrated design and build solution provider operating in the water sector, employing over 1,000 staff across eight regional centres and supporting six long‑term water sector frameworks both on their own and in joint ventures and alliances.

Working in a JV delivering a range of schemes to maintain and improve Southern Water’s water supply and wastewater treatment works in the eastern half of its region (Kent & East Sussex).

• Quantity surveying duties in respect of managing projects or a work package or packages.
• Report to the Managing QS when contractual notices and correspondence under the main contract and sub‑contracts are identified as necessary.
• Manage early warnings and change control.
• Prepare and manage sub‑contractor accounts including enquiries, orders, payments, sub‑contract administration and accounts in accordance with the contract and CVB procedures.
• Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained.
• Prepare project cost and value reports, budgets and forecasts.
• Assist in the preparation and agreement of applications for payment.
• Be proactive in self‑development and professional qualification.
• Assist in the development of Quantity surveyors and graduate QSs.

• Working towards or holding a chartered membership of a recognised institution.
• Degree or equivalent.
• NEC3 or other target cost contract experience.
• Several years’ experience in civil engineering.
• Experience of managing and developing an individual or small team.
