We are an expanding engineering consultancy business based in Ipswich, Suffolk. We are looking for a project cost manager with a financial / quantity surveying background, to support with project commercials, reporting, and procurement in retail engineering activity.

We have team members that are spread across the country. Therefore, remote working anywhere in the UK is an option to support our clients premises where required. The nature of this role would make it beneficial to regularly attend our office to overlap with our wider team, particularly in the initial stages of employment. The types of roles and responsibilities to be fulfilled will include:

• Triggering procurement of equipment and services

• Tracking project costs versus budgets

• Reporting on forecasting, commitments, and expenditure to our clients

• Attending regular client progress meetings to report on the above and highlight any risks or issues

• Undertake cost reviews to challenge contractor returns to ensure value for money is achieved prior to order placement and interrogation of schedule of rates upon completion

• Support tender activity creation and commercial analysis of the supplier returns

• Awareness and creation of contracts required within the construction industry for engineering and construction projects (i.e JCT with design etc)

The successful candidate will be very comfortable working with Microsoft Office software and have a commercial / quantity surveying background associated with project activity. This is a full time, 5 days per week (37.5 hours per week - flexible) permanent position and the salary will be competitive and negotiable subject to experience.
