Role Description
We are seeking an ambitious Project Cost Consultant with property sector experience to join our Property team, delivering major building schemes throughout Scotland and the South West of England. Ideally, you will be recently RICS qualified or on your route to qualification.
Our team is involved in some of the region’s largest and most exciting building projects, including residential, commercial office, and sports and leisure developments ranging from £20m to £1bn+. With a strong pipeline of work, you will have opportunities to grow your skills, work on industry-leading projects, and engage with some of the best clients in the property sector.
You’ll join an established and highly successful team, providing professional quantity surveying support on large property schemes, with opportunities to lead your own projects. You will work closely with Senior Partners and Directors, gaining valuable exposure to future development opportunities. Flexible working is supported, with a blend of office and remote working encouraged to promote collaboration and work-life balance.
Role Accountabilities- Assisting with feasibility studies for property developments
- Estimating and cost planning, including producing and presenting final cost plans
- Tendering and procuring construction works, with procurement advice to clients
- Managing post-contract cost variances and change control processes
- Conducting cost checks and valuations on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate reporting
- Producing monthly post-contract cost reports and presenting to clients
- Inputting into value engineering initiatives to maximise project outcomes
- Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
- Interfacing with clients and other consultants at all project stages
- Demonstrating strong knowledge of JCT Contracts within property sector projects
- RICS accredited surveyor, or approaching final assessment
- Commercial experience on major property/building projects (£1m–£10m+)
- Proven ability to self-manage and prioritise tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead stakeholders and third parties
- Demonstrated capability to support the project lead in delivering projects from inception to completion
