Junior Estimator

We are looking for an Entry-Level Mechanical Estimator to join our team. This is a great opportunity for someone who is interested in learning estimating skills for commercial/industrial heating, ventilation, and air conditioning.

The successful candidate will assist with reviewing drawings, preparing material takeoffs, requesting supplier pricing, organizing bid documents, and supporting our project management team throughout the tendering process. This role is well-suited for someone who is organized, mechanically inclined, and open-minded to learning and professional growth.

• Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
• Assist with quantity takeoffs for HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, piping, and sheet metal scopes.
• Request pricing from suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Organize quotes, drawings, addenda, and project documents.
• Assist with preparing estimates, proposals, and bid submissions.
• Track tender deadlines and help ensure bids are submitted on time.
• Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and internal team members.
• Attend site visits or pre-bid meetings when required.
• Support project handoff from estimating to operations after successful bids.
• Learn company estimating standards, pricing methods, and mechanical system fundamentals.

At a minimum, an applicant must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Comfortable reading drawings or willing to learn.
• Strong computer literacy: PDF software, email, and word-processing software.
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to stay organized while managing multiple deadlines.
• Willingness to ask questions, take feedback, and develop technical knowledge.
• This position is in-person at our Calgary office, we currently do not offer work from home opportunities. Reliable transportation to and from work is required.

• Previous experience in mechanical construction, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, sheet metal, or estimating - asset but not required.
• The willingness to build a long-term career in mechanical estimating/project management.
• Dependable, organized, and willing to learn.
• Strong time management ability.
• Strong work ethic and takes pride in accurate work.
• Ability to work independently while also taking direction from senior team members.
• An interest in mechanical systems, construction, HVAC, refrigeration, or trades.

Compensation is negotiable based on qualifications and relevant experience.
