Role Description
Fenix Engineering Ltd. is seeking a full-time Building Assessor to join our growing team in Calgary.
This is a hybrid position, with a combination of field work and work-from-home office duties. The successful candidate will conduct on-site building inspections, collect field information, prepare reports, and assist engineers with a variety of building assessment and construction-related projects.
The role requires regular travel to project sites within the Calgary area and occasional travel elsewhere in Alberta.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Conduct visual inspections of buildings and building components to assess their condition and identify maintenance or repair requirements.
- Document field observations through notes, measurements, and photographs.
- Prepare clear and concise inspection and assessment reports.
- Assist engineers with building condition assessments and construction-related projects.
- Assist with inspections and coordination of building components during construction and repair projects.
- Maintain organized project records and documentation.
- Communicate professionally with clients, contractors, and project team members.
- Plan and coordinate site visits while working safely and following company safety procedures.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
- A diploma or similar post-secondary education in Civil Engineering Technology, Architecture, Building Science, Planning, or a related discipline.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Basic ability to read and interpret construction drawings and schematics.
- Some knowledge of project management principles, including planning, scheduling, and coordination.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Fluency in English.
- A valid Class 5 driver's licence and access to a reliable personal vehicle.
Previous experience with building inspections, condition assessments, or construction projects is considered an asset but is not required.
