A prestigious Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking a driven Pre-Construction Manager to lead multi-million-pound bids from early tender through to PCSA and main contract award across the North West and Yorkshire.
The Role &Key Responsibilities
- Drive Bid Strategy:
Lead single and two-stage tender strategies from initial EOI to main contract award, shaping buildability, win strategies, and key differentiators. - PCSA Leadership:
Direct second-stage PCSA deliverables, coordinating design management, commercial strategy, risk registers, planning approvals, and profit plans. - Hands-on Submission Ownership:
Write, review, and assemble high-quality bid content while leading multidisciplinary teams across design, commercial, and planning. - Client & Supply Chain Engagement:
Build strong relationships with local authorities, clients, designers, and Northern supply chains, leading mid- and post-tender interview presentations. - Site & Buildability Evaluation:
Conduct site visits across the Northern region to identify build constraints, logistics, and sequencing improvements.
- Proven Pre-Con Track Record: 5+ years in pre-construction or senior bid management within UK main contracting (building/commercial sector).
- Two-Stage Expertise:
Demonstrated experience navigating PCSA frameworks, two-stage tenders, and client negotiations. - Qualifications:
Degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering, backed by professional chartership (MCIOB / MRICS or working towards). - Technical & Commercial Acumen:
Ability to write compelling tender content, challenge design/programme assumptions, and build solid profit strategies. - Regional Market Knowledge:
Familiarity with the North West and Yorkshire construction landscape, consultants, and sub-contractor networks.
